How automotive paint colours are made: tinting ranges, components and documentation.
Colour first, then preparation for application
A colourist weighs colour and effect tinters according to the required shade formula. Adding reducer or hardener is a separate step governed by the chosen material’s technical sheet. A 2:1 ratio alone does not describe a tinting system.
Reading the records
Each name identifies a documented manufacturer system. “Acrylic” describes the binder and does not establish solvent type. An unknown carrier is labelled explicitly. Published documentation does not establish current availability in Russia.
DeBeer solventborne basecoat tinting system for automotive refinishing. Its advertised reducer ratio concerns application, not the composition of the colour formula.
System components
BeroBase 500 colour components and compatible ancillaries; the colour is finished with the designated clearcoat.
FRENZY COLOR tinting system introduced by PAINT EXPERT in July 2025 with a 58-component starter range. The checked pages do not explicitly establish waterborne or solventborne technology, so the carrier type remains unknown.
System components
BASECOAT mixing components, toner chart, TINTING GUIDE component spray-outs and COLORDECK COLLECTION OEM colour box; mixing machine and dispensing lids. The count of 58 refers to the range announced in 2025.
Colour software
Proprietary FRENZY COLOR software; the source does not give a separate application name.
The distributor announces a 58-component tinting system, toner chart, OEM colour box and proprietary formula software. The page does not establish carrier type.
The range lists FRENZY COLOR BASECOAT, mixing machine, dispensing lid, TINTING GUIDE and COLORDECK COLLECTION. Used as system documentation, not a retail offer.
Waterborne tinting system for solid, metallic and special-effect automotive finishes. Colour formulation and preparation for spraying are separate operations.
System components
90 Line colour and effect tinters, waterborne mixing base and designated ancillary products.
Lechler waterborne basecoat colour system for two-stage car, motorcycle and commercial-vehicle finishes. One tinting range supports different application processes.
System components
A compact set of solid, metallic and pearl colour bases; dedicated thinners and additives for the selected process.
The official catalogue describes HYDROFAN HE as a colour-base system for automotive two-stage metallic/pearl/solid shades with two application methods.
The brochure dated 10/2026 explicitly identifies BC as a solvent-based system and describes mixing tinters, colour formulas and separate viscosity adjustment.
Mipa waterborne tinting system for solid, metallic and effect automotive colours. Formula-based colour mixing does not require a continuously operating mixing machine.
System components
WBC solid, aluminium, pearl and crystal tinters; ancillary products follow the TDS.
The current manufacturer entry identifies Solvent based technology and one set of mixing basics for single-stage and basecoat finishes; P422 is described separately.
REMIX SUPREME basecoat tinting system for two- and three-stage finishes. The checked BASECOAT page does not explicitly identify a waterborne or solventborne carrier, so the technology remains unspecified.
System components
BASECOAT solid, metallic and pearl components; component spray-outs, OEM colour boxes and metallic-grain guide.
The official mixing-system catalogue lists BASECOAT, DIRECT GLOSS 2K, basecoat/acrylic component spray-outs, colour boxes, mixing machine, scales and spectrophotometer.
The REMIX page describes REMIX SUPREME BASECOAT, DIRECT GLOSS 2K and REMIX SUPREME software linked to an X-Rite 5A spectrophotometer and scales. It does not establish a second independent REMIX system.
Two-component acrylic direct-gloss tinting system for solid automotive colours. It is distinct from BASECOAT; colour formulation and hardener activation serve different purposes.
System components
DIRECT GLOSS 2K acrylic colour components, TINTING GUIDE ACRYLICS spray-outs and compatible hardeners/reducers following the technical process.
Waterborne basecoat tinting system for reproducing solid, metallic and pearl automotive colours. The mixed colour is finished with a compatible clearcoat.
System components
Autowave MM 2.0 tinters, metallic and effect components; activators and ancillaries are selected separately according to the TDS.
Standox waterborne basecoat colour system for solid and effect shades. Formula selection determines colour; viscosity adjuster prepares the mix for application.
System components
Standoblue solid and effect tinters, binders and designated viscosity adjusters.
